John Abbott, Chief Executive writes:
HDP is a well-established charity working in Halton to ensure local people with disabilities and long term health conditions have full choice and security in their care.
With our trained and supported group of personal assistants (PAs) we have carried out this work since 2010. The value of our work has been recognised in that in recent times we have been funded to provide our services to people with Mental Health needs and children with special educational needs (SEN) within the borough.
There is a paradox in the significant increase in demand for our service which has gone hand in hand with cuts in our funds and this has been a challenge for HDP in recent months.
For some time we have sought alternative funding from many sources and we applied to the Big Lottery Reaching Communities. In this we have been supported by staff, trustees, volunteers and HBC Investment and development team.
I am delighted to report that in recognition of our work, our future potential work and our values that the National Lottery Reaching Communities fund awarded us:
This secures HDP for the future and gives us the opportunity to enhance, expand and develop our services to local people.
With thanks to all
